Fundraising with the Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop

Why fundraise through the Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop?

AAPS school groups have raised many thousands of dollars to support teams, clubs, classrooms, groups, choirs, orchestras, bands, and others on field trips, team and/or concert travel, and many more enrichment and extra-curricular activities.

Fundraising proceeds help offset growing costs for travel, equipment, uniforms, special events, entry fees and more.

Schools, groups, clubs and teams working together with the PTO Thrift Shop can help make these valuable activities more affordable for all students.

No door-to-door sales!

No more hours spent organizing events that don’t raise as much as expected!

Our fundraising opportunities are available for all Ann Arbor Public Schools PTOs, clubs, organizations, and school-sponsored activities.

We are a non-profit that works for our local community by supporting public school students, reselling usable merchandise (recycling), and employing local residents with full- and part-time work opportunities.

 How to get started:

1. Make sure your school PTO has an Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop representative.   This is your School Rep.  Having an adult serve as a representative is a requirement for participation.  If your school doesn't have a rep, consider signing up to be one.   What's a "Rep"?

2. Look over the Fundraising Activities and decide what your group would like to do.

3. To register and schedule participation, contact us by email:  a2ptothrift@gmail.com. Write “fundraising” in the subject line.

When do school PTOs receive donations?

The PTO Thrift Shop distributes donations for all fundraising activities three times a year, in mid-September, mid-January, and mid-May.  Fundraising proceeds are sent to the school PTO treasurer for allocation or distribution inside the school.  Groups receiving Thrift Shop funds are responsible for compliance with IRS regulations regarding fundraising (briefly, funds must benefit the group as a whole, not any individual).
